Atelier Mondaino was founded in 1996, born of Milena Gasparini’s artistic and professional vision.
Ever since its first collaborations in 1986, the studio has distinguished itself through its experimentation with aesthetic and functional solutions in the field of mosaic art for contemporary architecture.
Its creative journey is guided by an ongoing dialogue with the material: the exploration of new materials and the introduction of innovative uses pave the way for cutting-edge wall and floor applications capable of redefining space.
The studio creates site-specific installations for private residences, public spaces and places of worship, working in constant collaboration with architects, interior designers and artists.
Each project begins with a careful assessment of the space’s aesthetic and functional requirements.
Thanks to the flexibility of the material and the absolute precision of the craftsmanship, the studio is able to offer bespoke solutions: from large floor surfaces, such as exquisite Venetian-style terraces, to interior cladding, artistic walls and customised furnishings. Every coat of arms, sign or detail thus becomes a distinctive and enduring feature.

Over the course of forty years, the workshop has carried out major projects in Italy and abroad, whilst also collaborating on the translation into mosaics of the visions of great artists (such as the master Eliseo Mattiacci and Arnold Mario Dall’O).

Aeolian Islands (ME): In Panarea, the floor mosaic of the Church of San Pietro and the Monument to the Fallen at Sea; in Lipari, the works destined for the Municipal Art Gallery; on the island of Salina, the coat of arms of the Port Authority and the municipal coat of arms on the floor at the entrance to the Town Hall.
Trevignano Romano (Rome): The mosaic floor on the lakeside.
Altomonte (CS): The four lunettes on the frontispiece of the Amphitheatre.

Experiences
The workshop as a place for sharing and engaging with the local community.
We firmly believe in passing on artisan ‘know-how’: that is why, through our school, we organise mosaic courses and workshops for both adults and children. An immersive experience designed to give participants a first-hand taste of the patience, beauty and charm of this timeless art form.
