Goddess Diana and Actaeon

The project was realized with the collaboration of five students of varying ages and backgrounds from Rimini, Cervia, Bellaria, Ravenna, and Mondaino.
Once the location for the work was established—a 1.50 x 2.50 m wall niche to be used as a fountain—we began designing a motif linked to the mythology of the goddess Diana and Actaeon, reviving the ancient cult of Diana associated with the Mondaino area.
The motif was created using the direct method, using natural materials such as terracotta and stone. The tiles were cut by hand with a chisel and a small hammer, following ancient tradition, and installed using outdoor-grade adhesives.
The students collaborated throughout the creation and assembly of the work, learning the technique of cutting and installing a mosaic in all its phases: designing a work, choosing and preparing materials, cutting, executing with the direct method, and assembling.
